Dog Products

Good morning and Happy Hump Day. I wanted to introduce you all to my Dog Product page. I love finding new dog stuff and as you all know I also love to share with you. After being asked so often what Elsa and/or Riggs were wearing or eating, I compiled a page of everything that I use on a regular basis or will be buying in the future.

I’m a gear gal, I am not into fru fru items or useless stuff. I like products that are high quality; lasting beyond a few months and fill a need. Anything that makes our life with dogs easier is a plus, right?

Once I find a company that sets their standards high, producing great quality repeatedly, I’m a fan. One company that I really like is Ruffwear. They regularly release impressive dog items. Their products are super useful and what I consider “great gear,” for canines and their guardians.

Our favorite chews for teeth cleaning right now are the Nature Gnaws 12”. I like the 12” for Elsa and Riggs size because they go through them fairly quickly. I always remove the chews when they get to about 2 or 3” as they are chewed down to ensure that they are not consumed as a small piece. This of course is important with anything that your dog chews.

I am always searching for new products that fill a need or focus on high quality. If you happen to know of a great product, let me know.

My Dog Products page has many different sections covering, New Puppy, Grooming, Training, Walking and lots more. The page will have regular new additions as I find cool stuff that I want to share with you. So check it out often and as always, if you have any questions about anything, ask away. :)

Dog walking pouch

Do you use a fanny pack, or pouch as I like to call them? No? Why? Do you think they are nerdy? Let me tell you they are not nerdy, they are very cool and good for many reasons. Let me enlighten you. ;)

Reasons why you should use a dog walking pouch (much cooler name than fanny pack).

  1. Allows you to be hands free which is essential.

  2. It carries items that you should bring on your walks.

  3. It can be used to hook even more “stuff” onto it (carabiners).

  4. Makes you look like a serious dog walker.

  5. You’ll never be without a poop bag.

  6. It will save you from filling all of your pockets up with stuff.

  7. Lets face it ladies when you wear leggings or workout pants, those things don’t even have pockets. As an avid weight lifter I’m always in workout pants.

  8. Everything goes in the pouch so you never lose your stuff.

  9. Ever ready so you don’t even have to think about what to bring.

  10. They are very fashionable right now, yes, you heard right. ;)

I see all types of walkers out there and the really experienced ones I see have pouches on. Oh sure you can carry a bag, stuff your pockets or even throw a purse over your shoulder but nothing beats the dedicated dog walking pouch for utility worthy walks. They are just so great for so many things.

My newest pouch is a favorite so far and believe me, I’ve been through a few. The Waterfly slim pouch is water resistant and has lots of separate pockets for your essentials. It comes in 28 colors and patterns which made it a difficult decision for me but I finally settled on the teal blue.

This is my smallest pouch so far and I love it for day walks. It is really sleek and very cute I might add. Of course if you need water, a water bowl, pepper spray or something to clip your flip flops onto; I suggest adding the handy dandy carabiner, a girls best friend (at least for me anyway). If I’m headed out for a longer walk or let’s say the beach, out come the carabiners for my extra stuff.

I had such a hard time picking this color out that I might just have to get a few more to add to my collection. Nothing beats great gear when you are out and about with your dog. Always have your stuff with you.

What do I use?

People regularly ask me about the stuff that I use for Luke and Elsa.  Grooming equipment, food that I feed, training leashes, harnesses and collars.  I am always happy to share this information as I've been sifting through a lot of stuff over the years.  I  hate to see people waste money so when I can help out and share what I think to be useful I like to pass that onto you all.  I'm a gear junkie, I love canine stuff that makes living with dogs easier.

I have my standard "go to" items and that can change on a daily or weekly basis depending on my mood and requirements for the day.  Even though I love gear I don't love I do not like complicated.  So my favorite things to use are simple, easy and useful.  I've picked up equipment before and just stared wondering how long it might take one to put this onto their dog.  Not all companies that make dogs stuff think before they put things out there for the public; that much is obvious.  There is a lot of stuff out there that is useless or just a plain waste of money.

Sometimes I change my mind on something if I find a new and improved item that someone has come up with.  New ideas, constant improvements to dog gear; I love when there are new things to try.   I like companies who are always improving on what they have and actually want to make good products for dogs.

My prerequisite for being a favorite of mine is quality and usefulness.   Cost factors in, I want value; to get what I pay for not pay a ton of money for garbage.  Customer service is way up there for me; if I find out that a company does not stand behind their product or care about feedback then they slip way down on my list.

You will notice some changes to my blog; to the right side is now a couple of lists of things that I recommend.  I have all of these products and use them.  I will keep adding to these lists as I find new things that I like.  If you have a question about any of the products please let me know.  If you'd like to see something that I don't yet have on there let me know.   I love feedback.

As far as purchasing items online, my go to is Amazon.  They have crazy fast service, even when I choose regular 5-7 day delivery I have been getting my stuff in a day or two.  Almost everything can be found on Amazon but if not I will link to where an item I like can be found.  Of course these items are just what I like to use, my opinion.
