February is the month of love; Elsa and I LOVE these cookies. They are vastly different from the previous recipe; being soft, moist and fruity. For humans they make a great cookie for tea or coffee dipping. For Miss Elsa, they are a special treat that is unlike most of her other cookies that are hard and crunchy. I hope that you enjoy them as much as we do.
Cherry Triangles
- 1/2 cup coconut flour
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup raw almond butter
- 1 Tblsp tapioca flour
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup chopped dried cherries, you can use any chopped dried fruit, like cranberries, blueberries but not raisins.
Mix coconut and tapioca flour, egg, almond butter and honey together. Mix well in mixer or by hand until really well blended. Throw in chopped cherries or other fruit and blend lightly.
Divide dough into four and roll into balls. Place onto a baking sheet and flatten each down to about 1/3". Cut each round into 6 or 8.
Place into preheated oven for approximately 15 min. Turn oven down 250 and let a bit of heat out. Bake for another 10 min. Remove from oven and within a minute or two remove from baking sheet, placing on a cooling rack.
Training tip #2 - February
Why do some dogs not come when called? It can be because they were never trained to come, they associate negative activities with coming or it has just never served them well.
- always reward your dog for coming in the beginning of training. (Cookies work wonder)
- do not associate negative activities with your 'come' command.
- do not over use your 'come' verbal cue.
- even in the most panicked of times, try to associate something great with coming. I always reward Elsa for giving me her ball after a retrieve session.
