Welcome Autumn.  This is my absolute favorite time of year.  I love the cooler temperatures, the chilly evenings and falling leaves.  With the cooler temperatures I love spending hours in the kitchen.  Whether I'm cooking or baking for dogs or humans I love my time in the kitchen.

This months installment contain pumpkin for the season.  They are called Autumn Cookies and they are really yummy.  Like any other cookies on the club, have fun with them and I hope you enjoy.

Autumn Cookies

  • 1 cup garbanzo bean flour
  • 1 1/2 cup oatmeal flour
  • 1 cup coconut flour
  • 3/4 of a 15 oz. can of pumpkin puree
  • 1 large or jumbo egg
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 2 tbsp oatmeal flour to roll cookies in

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine all ingredients in bowl or stand mixer and blend very, very well.  Roll out with rolling pin with a dusting of oatmeal flour.  Roll to approx. 1 /4" .  Place on cookie sheet and bake 15-20 min.  For crispier cookies leave in oven turned off for several hours to dry.

Enjoy!

Training tip #10

When trying to train a dog to retrieve, never use food.  A dog has to want to retrieve and item so you need two of the same identical things.  Get your dog excited about the item first by tossing it around.  Then throw it.

When they go out to get the item and pick it up, show them the second one.  Many dogs will run back with the first item in their mouth and drop it when they get to you.  If they do this then immediately praise and toss the second one.

Do this over and over until you can get rid of the second item; and never, ever, go and pry the item out of your dog's mouth.  If you do that, you are being trained.  :)
