Welcome to July's installment for the Cookie Club.  Being that Elsa's birthday is July 10th, I decided to have these cookies named by someone in my Standard Poodle Facebook page.  The official name of these cookies is Elsa's  Pure Delights.

This month is quite different as this recipe was an experiment.  I wanted to show you how I go about creating a new recipe by making one that I just came up with.

They turned out much different than I thought they would.  I gave one to Elsa to make sure that she thought they were okay on her birthday and she gave them four paws up.  I also enjoyed many out of the batch, for a snack and breakfast.  They are a soft, round cookie that can be altered flavor wise with anything you like.  Enjoy!

Elsa's Pure Delights

  • 1 cup garbanzo bean flour

  • 1 cup oat flour

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1/4 cup apple sauce

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1 egg

Toss all ingredients into a bowl and mix well.  Use your hand or a mixer.  I use a cookie scoop and place on parchment.  Bake at 350 for approximately 15 minutes or until the edges are brown.  Remove from oven and place on a cooling rack, enjoy!

Training tip #7

This training tip covers all new behaviors that you are trying to teach.  Often our dogs get a block and it seems that they cannot quite "get" or understand a new behavior.  The problem is commonly that the behavior is too big or complicated.  By breaking a behavior down into baby steps your dog can "get" it and retain the information much easier.  It also enables you to offer more rewards for tiny success.  A win, win.
